ALGER, Wash. — Trey Starks emerged from the Bob’s Burgers & Brew Summer Nationals $10,000 richer after leading all 36 laps of the main event at Skagit Speedway on Saturday night.
Starks and Justin Sanders sat on the front row of the main event and at the drop of the green flag, it was Starks bursting to the front of the field and establishing a solid advantage.
A lap-four yellow flag for Lane Taylor bunched the field, and on the restart, Starks once again jetted out to a huge lead.
Starks would absolutely carve through lapped traffic, dicing and slicing through slower traffic, lapping all the way through ninth place on the field before a lap 32 caution for Tyler Thompson brought the field together for one last green flag run.
Tanner Holmes had worked his way from fifth to second by that time, and on the restart, showed speed on the low side of turns one and two. Starks missed the cushion a little on corner exit on the 34th and 35th lap, giving Holmes a shot down low coming to the white flag.
Tanner put together one more strong run, but the night and the weekend belonged to Starks, who drove hard around the top of turns three and four to secure the victory.
Holmes would secure a solid second-place finish, while Sanders took home third.
For the second straight night, Jayme Barnes dominated the Herz Precision Parts Wingless Sprint Series main event. Barnes led all 25 laps of the feature.
Trent Gillespie won the Hornet Nationals feature.
