scelzi headlines thursday’s 360 nationals field

KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Reigning 360 Knoxville Nationals winner Gio Scelzi headlines the field for Thursday’s opening night of the 32nd annual event for winged 360 sprint cars at Knoxville Raceway.

Scelzi, who turned in a dominant performance en route to victory last season, will again drive the familiar orange-and-white KCP Racing No. 18 sprint car in his quest for a repeat victory in the event that will pay at least $15,000 to Saturday night’s feature winner.

Wednesday night’s field will also includes California open-wheel ace Shane Golobic, who will drive Matt Wood Racing’s familiar No. 17w machine.

A winner in both 360 and 410 action at the half-mile track this season, Aaron Reutzel will lead a contingent of Knoxville regulars that includes Justin Henderson, Austin McCarl, Matt Juhl and Jack Dover.

Many-time ASCS champion Sam Hafertepe Jr., All Star regulars Parker Price-Miller, Cory Eliason and Zeb Wise are also in Wednesday’s field. Chase Randall, a frequent Sprint Invaders winner this season, California teenager Corey Day and Anthony Macri, who leads the country with 17 410 winged sprint car triumphs are also part of the star-studded field on the opening night of the event that was first run as the Limited Sprint Nationals in 1991.
