prelude sets stage for imca super nationals

BOONE, Iowa — Drivers in five IMCA divisions will get some important racing laps in while drivers in a sixth division will crown a champion during the eighth annual Wild Rose Casino Prelude at Boone Speedway on Sept. 3-4.

Friesen Performance IMCA Modifieds will race for $1,500-to-win, IMCA Sunoco Stock Cars for $1,000-to-win and Mach-1 IMCA Sport Compacts for $250-to-win on Saturday. Friesen Performance IMCA Northern SportMods will run for $750-to-win and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks for $400-to-win on Sunday.

Modified and stock car winners become eligible for their respective All-Star Invitationals later in the week.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing national, regional and state points will be awarded both nights; drivers must be pre-registered for Super Nationals to compete in the Prelude.

Super Nationals qualifying for the STARS Mod Lites starts on Saturday.

Sunday’s program includes last-chance races, the race of champions and the $2,000-to-win championship event.

SPEED SPORT TV affiliate will broadcast both days of the Prelude as well as the entire week of the Sept. 5-10 IMCA Speedway Motors Super Nationals fueled by Casey’s.

“As its name implies, the Prelude sets the stage for Super Nationals and drivers will be able to get some very important laps in at Boone before they begin qualifying later in the week,” commented IMCA President Brett Root. “Car-count wise, it’s also one of the biggest events of the season and increases in the purse reflect that fact.”

More than 570 cars were on the track over the course of the 2021 Prelude.

One change made this year saw sport compacts moved to opening night, to shorten the Sunday program and give hobby stock and Northern sportmod drivers more time to prepare for Super Nationals qualifying on Monday.

Drivers in all divisions competing at Super Nationals will be allowed to hot lap both nights of the Prelude.
