If you like to keep abreast of happenings in the hot hatch world you’ll likely have heard that Toyota has played a blinder with the new GR Yaris.
Built to homologate the rallying activities of Toyota’s Gazoo Racing division, hence the ‘GR’ tag, the GR Yaris has received rave reviews, including from us, making the cars hot property.
The trouble is, that strong demand means there’s already a waiting list, and as every supercar speculator will tell you, where there’s a wait, there’s a way to make money out of those who can’t be bothered to.
Which is how we come to the stunning delivery-mileage GR Yaris you see in these pictures. Offered for sale by the Hairpin Company, it’s covered just 70 miles and comes dressed in the optional metallic black paint.
That paint would have added £585 to the £29,995 list price, but whoever ordered this car also went for the £3500 Circuit Pack, bringing the total to £34,080.
The Circuit Pack brings forged alloy wheels, fancy limited slip differentials and tighter suspension and has been fitted to the press cars journalists have been getting all frothy over. If you want the most driver-focused GR Yaris, this is the one you want.
But if you want this one, and aren’t able to negotiate the price down, you’ll have to part with £42,500 – a chunky £8420 over list – and accept that yours won’t be the first name on the V5C registration form.
To give that price some context, the same £43k would put you behind the wheel of some other very well regarded hot hatches, including the Mercedes-AMG A35, Honda Civic Type R and new Volkswagen Golf R, and is almost enough to bag an entry-level Porsche Cayman.
If you like the idea of jumping the GR queue, but aren’t keen on paying Cayman money to do it, Bramley Motor Cars has an identical GR – but with 195 miles – on offer for £39,850.
