WeBuyCars (WBC) has opened the doors of its Dome dealership to the public.
The “super-showroom” is capable of accommodating over 1,000 vehicles, making it the largest used-vehicle showroom in Africa, said WBC.
“This is a hugely exciting chapter for WeBuyCars, and we will mark this milestone site with a grand opening on 23 March 2022,” it said.
“For now, a soft opening makes more sense considering the current state of Covid-19 cases in the country.”
Already trading
WBC acquired the Dome in July 2021 from the Sasol Pension Fund and set out to build its largest dealership yet.
The company relied on the prime location and size of the venue to bolster these efforts.
According to WBC, the Dome was originally intended to be a new-vehicle showroom where consumers could test drive multiple brands under one roof – but it was turned into an entertainment venue for concerts and expos.
The original plan for the Dome has now come to fruition, with WBC CEO Faan van der Walt declaring that the dealership is already trading. Only the finishing touches on the renovations remain.
By 17 December, the dealership is expected to be fully operational.
“As the WeBuyCars Dome will officially be the largest used vehicle showroom in Africa, prospective customers can expect a full range of services and some impressive add-ons at the company’s newest branch,” said van der Walt.
This includes the in-person buying and selling of used vehicles, online vehicle auctions, in-house financing, insurance solutions, and more.
Additionally, the showroom will house a kids’ play area and a cafe where customers can order refreshments.
“The safety of WeBuyCars customers and staff is grounded within the company’s purpose and will always remain its top priority,” said van der Walt.
“Therefore, strict health and safety precautions have been implemented to protect visitors and staff against Covid-19.”
The new WBC Dome dealership will trade seven days a week, said the company.
