The VW Golf GTI is the most searched-for model variant in South Africa’s second-hand car market.
This is according to AutoTrader’s latest Car Industry report for South Africa.
The report is based on data collected between July and December 2020, and details the most searched-for used cars in the country.
AutoTrader stated that the VW Golf GTI was the most searched-for variant “of all listed variants available for sale” during the period.
“Interesting to note that since the introduction of variant-level search functionality, searches for the Volkswagen Golf GTI have tripled,” stated the report.
Just under 1.5 million searches were accumulated by the Golf GTI, it added.
In second place was the Mercedes-AMG C63, closely followed by the VW Polo GTI.
Volkswagen’s dominance did not end there, however, with the VW Golf R taking fourth spot on the list.
Other brands which stood out were BMW and Ford.
BMW claimed sixth, seventh, and ninth place on the list with the following 3-Series models: 320d, 335i, and 320i.
Ford took fifth and tenth spot thanks to its Ranger Wildtrak and Focus ST.
Audi completed the German-heavy list, with its RS3 taking eighth place.
