TVS Motor Company and Jio-bp have announced that they will be teaming up to build a public charging network for two and three-wheeled EVs.
The partnership aims at creating public charging networks with support for both regular AC charging along with fast DC charging. This, claims the joint statement by the two companies, will align with Jio-bp and TVS’ commitment to providing vast and reliable
charging infrastructure to their customers.
The partnership will build on Jio-bp’s growing EV charging network across the country. Jio-bp had opened its first ‘Mobility Station’ in October last year. The company had announced that it would be setting up EV charging stations at these ‘Mobility Stations’ along with standalone ‘Mobility Points’. These spaces which are now known as Jio-bp Pulse also provide battery swapping stations.
Thanks to the new partnership, present TVS electric vehicles are expected to get access to the widespread charging network of Jio-bp, which is also open to electric vehicles from other manufacturers.
The TVS iQube electric scooter as stated earlier is the company’s only electric vehicle currently out for the passenger vehicle market. The iQube draws power from a 2.25kWh lithium-ion battery pack which allows for a range of up to 75 kilometres on a single charge. The battery pack takes 5 hours to fully charge up when connected to a 5A charger.
The battery pack on the TVS iQube powers a hub mounted electric motor. This electric motor produces 3kW (4bhp) of continuous power and 4.4kW (6bhp) of peak power. The torque output of the iQube is rated at 140Nm.
The TVS iQube offers a host of smart features including two riding modes – economy and power. The TVS iQube also features a TFT display that connects via Bluetooth to the owner’s smartphone.
This allows the owner to access a host of connectivity features through the TVS iQube app and the TVS SmartXonnect platform. These connected features include geo-fencing, remote charge status, navigation assist, last park location and incoming call alerts/SMS alerts and smart statistics among many others.
