The most dangerous car chase in a Hollywood movie ever can be found in the 1971 Oscar-winning film, the French Connection, which featured a total of 35 incidents of dangerous driving over the course of its seven-minute car chase.
There were 35 dangerous driving incidents during this time, comprising 30 major and 5 minor accidents.
PassMeFast from the U.K. reached this conclusion after analysing over 70 car and action films, both old and new, to find out which silver-screen vehicle antics were the most dangerous if the road laws of the real world were to be applied.
Top 10 most illegal movie car chases
There’s certainly no shortage of films depicting car chases, from cult classics like the 2011 movie Drive, to the box office behemoth that is The Fast and Furious franchise.
PassMeFast analysed the car chases according to the number of dangerous driving incidents they caused, both major and minor, and ranked them accordingly.
As mentioned, first place went to The French Connection with its 35 separate incidents.
Second place, however, is a comparatively new entry with 2017’s Baby Driver, breaking the law 33 times in just a few minutes with its opening getaway scene.
In third place is The Fate of the Furious, the eighth entry in the long-running Fast and Furious franchise.
The film’s biggest car sequence managed to clock 26 infringements against sensible driving with 18 of them consisting major violations of the law.
Of course, a list like this wouldn’t be complete without an entry from one of film’s oldest franchises – James Bond.
Surprisingly, for all the crazy antics the spy movie series has committed since its first entry in 1962, the most dangerous car chase to have been performed by Mr. Bond comes from the 2015 film Spectre, the 24th film in the franchise, with 21 incidents of reckless driving done in the name of queen and country.
And in fifth place, we have Mission Impossible: Fallout, the most recent outing in the action franchise with Tom Cruise, also with 21 counts of dangerous driving performed to save the world.
A further three Fast and Furious films made it into the top 10, as did a second Bond film – No Time to Die.
Additionally, PassMeFast also concluded that Aston Martin is the most popular car brand used in films, no doubt assisted by its long-term association with the Bond franchise.
