AutoTrader’s latest Car Industry report for South Africa has revealed the average selling price of used cars in the country.
The report is based on data collected from July to December 2020, and provides insight into the automotive market.
The data showed that the VW Polo was the most-listed model on the platform during the period, indicating there is a large supply of the vehicle locally.
In terms of price and mileage, the report showed that the average used VW Polo had the following credentials:
- Year: 2017
- Mileage: 55,134km
- Price: R218,054
The VW Polo Vivo claimed second place on the list, followed by the Ford Ranger, Toyota Corolla Quest, and Toyota Hilux.
Sixth to tenth places were made up of the BMW 3-Series, Mercedes-Benz C-Class, Toyota Etios, Toyota Fortuner, and Ford EcoSport.
“The top 10 most-listed vehicles during the last six months made up 28% of total car stock, and the 10 most-supplied vehicles interestingly made up the typical list of most sold used cars,” stated the report.
“This tells us that car dealers are stocking up on the necessary vehicles which are receiving the highest amount of demand by in-market car shoppers.”
