Tata Motors has confirmed the name of the new variant of the Nexon EV. It is called “Nexon EV Max”. The price of the Nexon EV Max will be revealed on May 11. The ex-showroom price of the Nexon EV Max will be Rs. 17 to 18 lakhs ex-showroom while the on-road price is expected to be around Rs. 20 lakhs.

In the video, we can see that the Nexon EV Max will come with a new rotary dial for the gear selector. It now comes with a display that shows what gear you are in. Along with the gear selector, there are a bunch of buttons. There are two drive mode buttons, Eco and Sport. There is an electronic parking brake with an auto-hold function. Then there are two sets of buttons, one has a battery full mark and another has a battery empty mark. It is not clear what these buttons will do, they might be for the adjustable brake regeneration.
Another thing that we can notice from the teaser is that the Nexon EV Max will come with an auto-dimming rearview mirror. This means the Nexon EV Max will be equipped with more features. It could come with ventilated front seats, there is a park mode also as we can see in the video, cruise control and air purifier could also be there. Moreover, there could also be an Electronic Stability Program on offer.
Cosmetically, we can see that the Nexon EV Max stays the same as the regular Nexon EV. The only thing that is new is the 5-spoke alloy wheels that are diamond-cut units. The rest of the electric compact SUV stays the same. So, there are projector headlamps with LED Daytime Running Lamps, the bumpers are also the same.
The major change is the new larger battery. It is 40 kWh as compared to the current 30.2 kWh. This means that the claimed range will go up from 312 km to 400 km. The real-world driving range could go up from 200-250 km to around 300 km. Moreover, Tata Motors is expected to offer a faster charger as an option. Although, as standard, you would still get a 3.3 kW charger.
Tata Motors would also offer a way to adjust the amount of brake regeneration. This should also help in improving the driving range. The additional batteries will be placed in the boot which means that the boot space will decrease from the current 350 km. To handle the additional weight and add to the stopping power, Tata Motors will offer rear disc brakes with the Nexon EV Max.
As of now, it is not known whether the power output and torque output will be changed or not. The current Nexon EV produces 136 Ps and 245 Nm. The battery pack does come with an 8-year or 1.6 lakh km standard warranty. The long-range model will be sold alongside the current model.
