Indian carmaker Tata Motors has revealed the Avinya EV concept. Tata claims that Avinya is Sanskrit for innovation. The Tata Avinya concept vehicle is our first glance at the carmaker’s Gen 3 EVs.
The Tata Motors Avinya EV concept features a skateboard platform for pure EVs. Tata has stated that the first electric vehicle based on the new Gen 3 platform will arrive in production form in 2025. Tata claims that the new Gen 3 electric vehicles will have a minimum range of 500 kilometres.
Tata claims that the Avinya is a human centric vehicle. The Tata Avinya EV concept, which is 4.3-metres long features a minimalist design. The company claims that the Avinya has been designed from the inside out.
From the outside, the Avinya’s design is dominated by the T-shaped LED daytime running lights that stretch across the front end of the concept car. At the edges of the LED daytime running lights sit a set of sleek LED headlights.
The Tata Avinya also features a heavily sculpted front bumper and large black panel that runs across the front end of the vehicle. This panel features a host of LED lights which add to the overall design of the Avinya concept from Tata Motors.
The sides of the Tata Avinya help empasise the overall length of the electric concept vehicle. The Avinya’s snazzy alloy wheels sit right on the edges of the concept car which has extremely minimal overhangs at the front and rear. This helps maximise the wheelbase of the vehicle allowing for a lot more space on the inside.
To step inside the Avinya, the doors open up like those in a coach (or a Rolls-Royce) to reveal the lack of a B-pillar. The doors are butterfly units that open upwards and outwards which allows for easier ingress and egress.
Move to the rear of Avinya, and the T-shaped light bar taillight immediately catches your eye. The fact that the taillights form a spoiler element just adds to the design flair of the Avinya. The rear haunches of the concept car curve down into the bumper section.
Step inside the Avinya and you’ll find yourself astounded at the lack of massive displays. Tata wishes to ensure that those who step inside the Avinya can destress.
Don’t let the lack of large displays let you think that the Avinya lacks tech. The concept EV features sound bar style speakers for all the seats (two large chairs at the front and large and very comfy bench at the rear) and the vehicle also features secondary displays for its occupants.
The Tata Avinya features upholstery made from sustainable sources along with a host of other features all focused at ensuring that those inside are as comfortable and stress free as possible.
Thoughts On The Tata Avinya Concept
The Tata Avinya is a look into the innovative future of the Tata Motors group. The concept vehicle previews the Indian automotive giant’s Gen 3 EVs. If the production electric vehicles are anything like the Avinya concept then Tata’s dominance of the Indian EV scene looks set to last for a very long time.
