In terms of trim levels, Tata Motors has officially confirmed that the Tata Altroz DCA will be available in the top three trim levels – XT, XZ, and XZ+.
Commenting on the new product, Mr Rajan Amba, Vice President, Sales, Marketing and Customer Care, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. said, “India’s safest hatchback, the ALTROZ, has carved a niche for itself in the premium hatch segment with more than 1.25 lakh happy customers. Taking our success story further, we wanted to delight our customers by introducing a world-class automatic transmission to the line-up in the form of the ALTROZ DCA. We are confident that the ALTROZ DCA will set ‘Gold Standard’ in automatics and will match the evolving preference of our customers. Our customers can visit their nearest Tata Motors dealerships to know more about the product and book the all-new ALTROZ DCA. I am confident that the ALTROZ DCA, when launched, will instantaneously witness an overwhelming response and help us expand our customer base.”
Speaking about the Tata Altroz hatchback, it is the safest hatchback in the country with a 5-star safety rating for adult occupant protection and it is also one of the best-selling hatchbacks in the country despite not having an optional automatic gearbox.
Speaking about the powertrain, the upcoming Tata Altroz DCA will be powered a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine. This engine is a 3-cylinder, naturally-aspirated unit with 85bhp of peak power at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of peak torque at 3,300rpm.
However, Tata Motors may introduce the more powerful 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine with this transmission. At present, the more potent 1.2-litre turbocharged, 3-cylinder petrol engine produces 108bhp at 5,500rpm and 140Nm of torque at 1,500 rpm.
We expect Tata Motors to price the Tata Altroz DCA around Rs 50,000 higher than the manual variant. Thanks to the more advanced DCT unit, the automatic variant is expected to weigh around just 20kgs heavier than the manual variant.
At present, there is no automatic variant for the diesel version of the Tata Altroz, and the diesel unit in the Tata Altroz is a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder unit with 90bhp at 4,000rpm and 200Nm of torque at 1,250rpm. This powertrain is suitable for anyone who does a lot of long journeys.
Tata Altroz DCA is also very well equipped and comes with features such as iRA connected car technology, a touchscreen infotainment system, a 7-inch TFT digital instrument cluster, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, cruise control, rear AC vents, and many more.
Thoughts About Tata Altroz Automatic
Tata Altroz is already one of the best hatchbacks currently available in the country and the only hatchback in India with a 5-star safety rating, thus making it the safest hatchback you can buy in India.
Despite the popularity of Tata Altroz in the Indian market, the lack of automatic transmissions makes it a secondary choice for many urbanites in the country.
However, with the launch of the automatic variant of the Tata Altroz, Tata Motors will be able to attract more buyers in Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities in the country.
