Superpedestrian has debuted its next core operating system, which will be programmed directly onto every LINK e-scooter. Several significant hardware upgrades are also being deployed.
Codenamed “Briggs”, the second version of LINK’s unique operating system slashes geofence reaction time to 0.7s, stores triple the number of geofence zones that enforce no-ride areas, has 7X more precise geofence accuracy, boosts battery life by two days and extends scooter range by 10%. Thanks to over-the-air updates, the company is able to update its entire global LINK fleet in seconds.
LINK is the only e-scooter powered by VIS (Vehicle Intelligent Safety system), a sophisticated onboard safety system that combines artificial intelligence, 73 sensors and five microprocessors. VIS runs 1,000 vehicle health checks every second in a ride, and monitors, governs and fine-tunes vehicle performance in real-time. VIS is as big a step-change in scooter safety as the seat belt was for cars.
Because VIS can be continuously upgraded with new operating systems, features and updates, LINK scooters get more responsive with every update, just like Tesla cars. This makes the product unique in an industry where all other e-scooters remain fixed after production, and can only be replaced, not upgraded.

Built on seven years of AI development, two years of hardware design and unprecedented vehicle validation testing, LINK first launched in 2020 and quickly distinguished itself as the safest and best-engineered scooter in the industry with its first operating system, Asimov.
By storing geofence maps and enforcement commands onboard, LINK cuts the lag that results from relying on cloud computing and cellular connections. Now, all LINK scooters can react in just 0.7s (previously 0.9s). That’s a 22% speed improvement, making the industry’s fastest-responding geofence system even better at safeguarding protected areas and keeping all city residents safe.
Every LINK now has three times more storage for onboard geofence maps. LINK’s 223 Seattle-specific geofence-enforced zones were already the most of any provider in any single city. The Briggs operating system can now accommodate 24,000 discrete onboard zones in one city, allowing precise protection throughout complex urban environments.

Superpedestrian has optimised Briggs to increase LINK’s battery standby life, which jumps from 20 to 22 days. This reduces the frequency with which LINK scooters need to be returned to a Superpedestrian Service Centre for charging, further reducing LINK’s carbon footprint.
