Stellantis has joined forces with Italian company TheF Charging to create a Europe-wide public charging network.
The proposed network will cover more than 15,000 locations in Europe with some 2 million parking spaces from 2021 to 2025.
What’s more, the network will be made accessible to any electric vehicle. However, drivers that own a car from one of Stellantis’ many sub-brands will get “exclusive conditions.”
“Stellantis is working on creating strategic collaborations to disseminate e-mobility, thus leveraging not only the internal skills but also the partners’ specialisations, in order to accelerate the introduction to the market of new technologies in step with the times,” says Anne-Lise Richard, Stellantis’ Head of e-Mobility Global Business Unit.
“The partnership between Stellantis and TheF Charging fits into this framework with a clear objective: to guarantee the presence of charge points in strategic European locations, and to offer the best possible charging experience over time,” she continues.
The network is set to be built in locations where drivers spend a lot of time and often need to recharge – think city centres, hospitals, schools, airports, railway stations, ports, restaurants, gyms, and shopping malls.
The first sites are expected to appear in Italy this year before expanding to the rest of Europe through 2025.
The two companies will also “constantly co-operate to update the services offered by the charging network, pooling their know-how to define charging solutions and energy services customised according to the business managed in the locations that will host the network,” apparently.
“This technological and commercial collaboration will generate benefits along the entire value chain: from our customers, whether or not they drive a Stellantis vehicle, who will be able to take advantage of innovative services in line with the individual’s specific requirements, to the owners of the locations that will host our network,” says Federico Fea, CEO of TheF Charging.
“The latter will be able to count on a greater influx of high-value customers and on an outstanding partnership based on transparency, personalised services and collaboration.”
However, no financial details were revealed about the new arrangement.
