Skoda has been teasing its upcoming all-electric SUV (dubbed the Enyaq iV) ahead of a full-blown reveal in September. Recently, we had gloomy images of the exterior lines, which shows a long sloping roofline and smooth but high hip lines at the front and rear. Skoda has stated the EV will be built on the same platform as the VW ID 3, Volkswagen Group’s new MEB platform.
Following that information, we have now been treated to a few more details about the interior, which Skoda claims offers an ‘exceptional’ amount of interior space thanks to this long roofline and new platform.
Norbert Weber, Head of Interior Design at Skoda has said the upcoming interior will feel like a lounge or other home environment, as opposed to the typical automotive interiors we are more used to. “Instead of the usual equipment lines and numerous additional options, we are offering our new Design Selections in the Enyaq iV for the first time. These are reminiscent of modern living environments, featuring perfectly coordinated colours and materials,” he says.
The lack of central transmission tunnel (thanks to the electric powertrain) has allowed the designers to introduce further storage compartments at the front and rear passengers benefit from an increase in leg and headroom.
Infotainment is taken care of by a 13-inch central screen and a new head-up display, which includes augmented reality technology, while the use of natural and recycled materials helps to reduce the environmental impact of each car.
A colourful sketch released by the company doesn’t do much to ram home these new elements, looking rather much like a typical car interior, but Skoda says all will become clear when the car is revealed in Prague in September.
