The Ram Revolution is about to begin.
Despite tough competition from the likes of Ford and GM, Ram has established itself as a standalone brand, providing loyal customers with numerous options to suit their lifestyles, from the work-ready Tradesman to the high-performance 1500 TRX. But with Ford F-150 Lightning and Chevrolet Silverado EV orders through the roof, the Stellantis-owned brand needs to bolster its range with an electrified offering.
The company has been working on a riposte to the aforementioned EVs, with the Ram 1500 EV scheduled to launch in 2024. While it will be some time until we see a production-ready model, the CEO is confident that truck buyers will love it. In the meantime, Ram Truck has announced a special program for Ram fans.
While we previously thought Ram Revolution would be the name of the upcoming electric pickup, it turns out the aforementioned moniker will be used for an exclusive insider program, which invites devotees to join the truckmaker on its journey to “revolutionize the pickup truck market” with the electrified Ram.
Consumers will be able to gain meaningful insight into the brand and its EV philosophy while being able to source useful information, updates, and visuals about the upcoming model. This will be done through the new RamRevolution.com hub, which also promises continuous dialogue and the opportunity to provide input throughout the development process. Mike Koval Jr., Ram Brand CEO, is excited about the campaign, saying he believes it will allow the company to glean useful commentary from customers.
“Our new Ram Revolution campaign will allow us to engage with consumers in a close and personal way, so we can gather meaningful feedback, understand their wants and needs and address their concerns – ultimately allowing us to deliver the best electric pickup truck on the market with the Ram 1500 BEV.”
Furthermore, the company is introducing the Ram Real Talk Tour. The series of conversations with consumers will allow Ram to understand what next-gen Ram vehicles must do to satisfy customer needs.
Not much can be seen from the teaser (bar a mild silhouette), but it does appear far sleeker than the current Ram 1500 range. While it's likely to retain the family resemblance seen on other Ram products, the new electric derivative will likely receive a more aerodynamic front end to aid with range and battery consumption.
The headlights also appear to be slimmer, giving the truck a more modern appearance. Ford has only applied minor styling changes to the F-150 Lightning, but it looks like Ram will give its electric truck more distinctive styling. Based on previous teaser images and our rendering, it will likely eschew the boxy and imposing aesthetic currently worn by the Ram 1500.
With Ford already offering the E-Transit and electrified F-150, Ram doesn't want to be left behind as consumers adopt EVs. As such, the company is promising to offer fully electrified vehicles in the majority of its segments by 2025, with a full portfolio of electrified vehicles for all segments five years later. This will, most likely, include a battery-powered ProMaster, too.
