There’s a Revolution coming, or so says Ram.
The Stellantis brand is reminding consumers it’ll have electric pickup trucks of its own to battle the likes of the Chevrolet Silverado EV, Ford F-150 Lightning and GMC Hummer EV, and is asking for their input.
The truck brand has launched the Ram Revolution website, which also contains a second teaser image of a concept vehicle that will “inspire the design” of the upcoming Ram 1500 BEV.
The production 1500 BEV is due in 2024.
The website will provide consumers with updates and allow them to provide input as Ram’s electric trucks are being developed.
Ram is also debuting the Ram Real Talk Tour, where it’ll talk to consumers at events to understand what they need from their vehicles.
“Our new Ram Revolution campaign will allow us to engage with consumers in a close and personal way, so we can gather meaningful feedback, understand their wants and needs and address their concerns – ultimately allowing us to deliver the best electric pickup truck on the market with the Ram 1500 BEV,” said Ram CEO Mike Koval Jr.
Ram is aiming to offer electric vehicles in the majority of the segments in which it competes by 2025, with a full range of electric models no later than 2030.
It’s promising to “push past what customers have announced and what customers expect to deliver a fuller portfolio of technology with more range, power, productivity and convenience”.
Ram is planning two electric trucks at first: a “mid-sized” one, closer in size to the likes of the Ford Ranger, and an electric equivalent to the full-sized Ram 1500.
The former will be underpinned by Stellantis’ new STLA Large architecture, also underpinning the likes of the production Chrysler Airflow and upcoming Dodge muscle car, while the latter will use a new body-on-frame EV architecture called STLA Frame.
A range of vehicles across both platforms were teased at Stellantis’ 2021 EV Day in wireframe form.
Vehicles on the STLA Large architecture will offer 400V or 800V technology and batteries measuring 101-118kWh.
They’ll offer up to 800km of range, and feature both single- and dual-motor electric powertrains.
STLA Frame vehicles will feature 159-200kWh batteries and offer up to 800km of range.
Vehicles on both platforms will use electric motors with between 150kW and 330kW of power, which could mean 660kW dual-motor powertrains are on the menu.
For comparison, the Chevrolet Silverado EV will offer up to 495kW of power and 645km of range in RST First Edition guise, the Ford F-150 Lightning will offer up to 420kW of power and 480km of range, and the GMC Hummer EV in Edition 1 guise will produce 745kW of power and achieve a claimed 529km of range.

STLA Large-based vehicles will measure between 4800mm and 5500mm long, while STLA Frame vehicles will measure 5600mm and 6200mm long.
Ram’s promise to have a full range of electric vehicles by 2030 suggests it’s not only working on the aforementioned mid-sized and full-sized electric trucks, but also EV counterparts to the rest of its model line-up.
Ram currently sells not only the 1500 and heavier-duty 2500 and 3500 pickups, all of which are offered here, but also the ProMaster City and ProMaster, rebadged Fiat Doblo and Ducato vans.
The Ducato is already available with an electric powertrain in Europe.
