A multi-car smash led to the closure of a Halifax road earlier today.
An a accident at Shay Lane in Halifax caused part of the southbound section of the A629 Keighley Road to be partially blocked with heavy traffic reported following a nasty crash.
Witnesses reported that the collision on Ovenden Road was at the junction with Keighley Road and Shay Lane and videos from the scene show a wave of emergency services present at the scene.

A witness shared images and video footage of the scene of the crash.
One person said: “Bad accident happened on ovenden road I hope no one hurt salute to the ladies who ever controlling traffic both way.”
This was in reference to women at the scene of the accident who courageously put themselves in the middle of the road to direct traffic as police investigated the crash.
Another person, who posted to inform people of the crash, said: “Big crash on Ovenden road no through access for any cars going towards town or back up to illingworth. Avoid. Use ovenden way. Hope everyone involved is ok.”
The road has now been cleared and has traffic returned to normal following the accident.
