Skoda has upped the recommended retail price on some of its key models, including the Scala, Octavia and Superb passenger cars, and the Kamiq and Kodiaq SUVs.
In fact, the only models in the Skoda line-up to avoid a price hike for the 2022 model year are the Karoq medium SUV and the Fabia light hatchback because they are both in runout.
A new-generation Fabia arrives in showrooms in the second quarter and the facelifted Karoq hits Australian shores in March. Pricing for those models is expected shortly before launch.
A Skoda spokesperson said there were no changes to standard specification as part of the model year 2022 price tweaks. They added that the company had absorbed price increases througout 2021, but pressures stemming from inflation and manufacturing costs had forced the latest change.
All four grades in the Scala small hatchback range have gone up by $1800 apiece, with the range now starting at $31,990 before on-road costs for the base Ambition manual and topping out at $35,990 for the Monte Carlo automatic.
That pricing isn’t far off the mechanically related Volkswagen Golf which is priced from $32,790.
All Scala variants are powered by a 110kW/250Nm four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine driving the front wheels. It’s paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, but the Ambition is also available with a six-speed manual.
Octavia pricing has increased by between $2000 and $2300, depending on the variant. The Ambition sedan and wagon are up by $2200 and the flagship RS performance models have jumped by $2000 so the range now runs from $33,890 for the Ambition sedan to $51,590 for the RS wagon.
Opting for a wagon adds $1300 to the price of an Octavia sedan.
There are three front-wheel drive powertrain options for the Octavia, including the 110kW/250Nm four-cylinder turbo petrol for the Ambition and Style, 140kW/320Nm for the Limited Edition and 180kW/370Nm for the RS.
All Superb variants are up by $1800 each, with prices ranging from $52,290 for the Style sedan and topping out at $65,290 for the Sportline 4×4 wagon.
The Kamiq small SUV has jumped by $2300 for the Ambition, which now starts at $34,690 for the manual, while the Signature has increased by $2200 and the Monte Carlo cops a $2300 jump to $37,590.
All Kamiqs come with the 110kW/250Nm four-pot as standard.
Finally, Kodiaq pricing has gone up by between $950 and $1250, with prices ranging from $49,790 for the Style, $54,390 for the Sportline and topping out at $68,390 for the go-fast RS variant.
The Style and Sportline are powered by a 132kW/320Nm four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine and the RS uses a 180kW/380Nm turbocharged petrol unit, which replaced the pre-facelift model’s 176kW/500Nm turbo-diesel. All Kodiaqs are all-wheel drive.
While the price increases relate to recommended retail pricing, Skoda Australia says the increase to drive-away pricing is limited to $1000 for the Kamiq and Octavia and $1000-$2000 for the Superb.
