South Africans will pay less for petrol this month, according to the official November pricing figures released by the Department of Energy.
The department said the following price changes will take place from 4 November:
- Petrol 95 – 27c per litre decrease
- Petrol 93 – 27c per litre decrease
- Diesel 0.05% – 12c per litre decrease
- Diesel 0.005% – 11c per litre decrease
- Illuminating Paraffin – 15c per litre increase
This follows the AA predicting a petrol price drop thanks to a stronger rand and lower international petroleum prices.
“This gradual appreciation [of the rand] has been mirrored by international oil prices, which softened throughout the month, with steeper reductions seen over the past 10 days,” said the AA recently.
The Department of Energy stated that the average rand/US dollar exchange rate for the period 2-29 October 2020 was 16.4657 compared to 16.7204 during the previous period.
“This led to a lower contribution to the basic fuel prices on petrol, diesel, and illuminating paraffin by 7.91 c/l, 7.56 c/l and 7.16 c/l respectively.”
The table below shows what motorists will pay for fuel from 4 November, and compares it against the fuel price for October 2020.
