New toll road tariffs for South Africa have been published by Transport DG Alec Moemi.
The fees for key toll roads across the country have been outlined, which are set to come into effect 1 March 2021 – as reported on by BusinessTech.
Additionally, the latest fees schedule for the Gauteng Freeway Improvement Project – also known e-tolls – has been published.
This is despite e-tolls being met with strong resistance since 2013 – and calls for the system to be scrapped coming from top-ranking transport figures.
Transport Minister Fikile Mbalula has said that President Cyril Ramaphosa’s cabinet is set to finalise a new funding model for the project, however, after receiving proposals from his department.
