SHAH ALAM: India’s largest commercial vehicle manufacturer Tata Motors, along with its authorised distributor DRB-Hicom Commercial Vehicles Sdn Bhd (DHCV), today launched the Tata Super Ace and the Ultra range of trucks in Malaysia.
Net selling prices are RM46,990 (Super Ace); RM86,990 (Ultra 814) and RM97,990 (Ultra 1014).
Tata Super Ace
The Tata Super Ace is a 1 ton mini-truck from Tata Motors, for inter-city and intra-city transportation solutions. Powered by a 1,405cc diesel engine, the Tata Super Ace is based on the popular Tata Ace mini-truck. Having sold over a million units since it was first launched in 2005, the Tata Ace has a footprint spanning 28 countries across South Asia, Africa and the Asean.
The Tata Super Ace can be customised for various small scale business operations, for the transportation of construction items, food grains, fruits, FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) and white goods or could be configured to be a food truck, an ice-cream truck or a mobile store on wheels.
Tata Ultra 814 and 1014 trucks
The Tata Ultra trucks are said to offer high levels of durability and reliability, driver comfort, high load carrying-capacity and safety.
The Ultra 814 and 1014 are powered by a new NG 3.0-litre CRDI engine, mated to a G550 6-speed manual transmission.
This powertrain produces 140ps at 2,600rpm and 390Nm of torque at 1,400 to 2,000rpm. Available with highest body option of 5.5-metre, the Tata Ultra provides customers flexibility for varying business requirements.
The Ultra 814 has a GVW (gross vehicle weight) of 7,500kg and payload of 3,600kg. As for the Ultra 1014, it has a GVW of 10,400kg and payload of 7,190kg.
“With these new products, which have superior features and are competitively priced, we are confident it will gain traction amongst our target users in the near term,” said DRB-Hicom chief operating officer (automotive distribution, defence and manufacturing and engineering) Datuk Abdul Harith Abdullah.
DHCV has been importing, assembling and distributing foreign marques in Malaysia since 1979. Customers in Malaysia are served by a network of 24 outlets in major townships.
