Recently, there was a story in Australia where a 26-year-old woman from Malaysia was stopped on the side of the road by Griffith highway police for driving over the speed limit.
The driver of the Honda Accord was found driving at a speed of 113 km/h in the speed limit zone of 100 km/h. Unfortunately, during the inspection, the suspect gave a Malaysian driving license, not an Australian one.
The Australian police checked with the Malaysian Road Transport Department (JPJ) and discovered that the licence number was not valid. Surprisingly, the girl held a New South Wales Learners licence, which is a L learning driving card for the country, according to the results of a record investigation in Australia. Only the background check associated with the license's identifying number was problematic.
“I asked someone to make it,” the woman driver told the officers during a thorough investigation. The driver had been residing in New South Wales for the past 6 years on a current bridging visa.
Regardless, the Malaysian driver was arrested and charged in Griffith Court House for three major offences:
- Learner not accompanied by licensed driver/police officer or tester
- Learner driver not display L plates as prescribed
- Learner driver exceed speed limit- over 10 km/h
