Beijing-based Li Auto is another Chinese manufacturer with an EV offensive. The brand already sells the Ideal One range-extender SUV in China, and now it plans to launch the Li Auto L9, a full-sized family SUV. Here’s everything we know about the Li Auto L9 as of March 2022:

The Li Auto L9 packs a traditional three-box SUV design. The design appears uncluttered and futuristic. It has a split headlamp design; there’s a full-width DRL strip at the edge of the bonnet, and the LED projector headlamps are positioned in the bumper. There’s no grille in the upper section, and the nose appears clean and smooth. There’s a lower air dam to cool the battery, and right above the windshield, there are LiDar sensors.
The Li L9 also has aero-optimized machine cut wheels, flush door handles, a subtle roof spoiler, and a full-width rear light strip that connects the combination lamps. The brake light is positioned on the spoiler, and the rear windscreen wiper is hidden under the spoiler.

Inside, the L9 packs pleasant innovations and has a lot of digital real estate. Yes, the Li Auto L9 has as many as four screens in its cabin, of which three are massive touchscreens. For starters, Li Auto didn’t feel the need for a traditional digital instrument cluster. Instead, there’s a sizeable heads-up display that showcases speed, gear position, maps, and ADAS functions. There’s a secondary screen (non-touch) on the steering, which displays speed, range, audio, and other information.
Eliminating the digital cluster is a fresh take on the interior layout and cuts out distractions. The HUD is in the driver’s field of vision and displays essential information. The steering has capacitive touch buttons and two rotary dials, while the central 15.7-inch OLED screen houses primary functions. There’s another 15.7-inch OLED screen for the co-driver, and both the screens have 3K resolution. There’s the third 15.7-inch OLED screen for rear passengers, which can be used for streaming purposes.
The Li Auto L9 also offers a small fridge under the central armrest (accessed from the second row). What’s more, there are two charging pads and two bottle holders on the center console. The brand is also offering premium 21-speaker audio with an output of 2160 W. The system uses Dolby Atmos technology and 4D sound, which makes the seats vibrate to the tune of the music, a feature popularized by the latest generation Mercedes-Benz S-Class.

Specifications
The Li Auto L9 is one sizable SUV. It measures 5,200 mm (207.4 in.) long, 1,998 mm (78.6 in.) wide, and 1,800 mm (70.8 in.) tall. It has a 3,105 mm (124 in.) wheelbase. Chinese local media reports state that 6- and 7-seater configurations will be available. However, there’s no official word on the same. The press images only showcase a six-seater layout.
The Li Auto L9 comes with an AWD system; the front-axle mounted electric motor produces 174 hp (130 kW), and the rear motor makes 268 hp (200 kW). There’s also a 44.5 kWh battery, enabling a CLTC certified range of 133.5 miles (215 km). This is a range extender SUV, which means it also houses a petrol engine—the combined output of the hybrid drive is 330 kW (442 hp) and 620 Nm (457 lb.-ft.). 0-62 mph time is impressive at 5.3 seconds. Fuel tank capacity is 65 liters, and the combined range is 1,315 km/817 miles (CLTC), according to CnEVPost.
