Kim Teck Cheong Orders 200 Hino Trucks For Fleet Expansion

Kim Teck Cheong Shipping Sdn Bhd (KTC Shipping) recently received 24 units of 200 Hino trucks it had ordered, to add to its fleet. Hino Motors Sales (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd (HMSM) handed over the first batch of HINO 300 Series Pro light duty trucks to KTC Shipping, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Kim Teck Cheong Consolidated Bhd (KTC).

KTC is the sole operator of Gardenia Bakeries (East Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, while KTC Shipping is the supply and distribution arm for consumer packaged goods in East Malaysia. This large fleet order illustrates the confidence of the company in Hino products and signals the start of a long-term relationship for both parties.

The company has the aim of penetrating the Indonesian market with the Gardenia brand, and the procurement of this large fleet of Hino trucks will help with its market expansion. With its own fleet, it can better control logistical factors.

“The excellence of logistics and distribution is our main priority as we are running a core business that focuses on providing market access, and this field requires the punctuality and smooth running of delivery. To achieve the level of excellence, I would say, transportation line is our backbone, and we are very sure that Hino truck will be able to deliver to our expectation,” he added.

The HINO 300 ordered by KTC is the XZC710R 6-wheeler light-duty truck. It is fitted with a Euro 3 turbo-diesel engine that produces 156 PS and 429 Nm of torque – the highest output in its segment. This new model was launched in October 2020 during a disruptive period, but is seeing a growth in demand not only from customers in West Malaysia, but in East Malaysia as well.

We still do not know when the pandemic will be over, but uncertainty does not have to mean paralysis. The trucks are also installed with the HINO Connect smart telematics system to support the fleet managers and add value to customer’s operations. With this system, customers can access the truck’s information through the myHINO mobile application. Besides its main function of protecting the truck and driver, HINO Connect can also help the customer optimise its fleet operations and improve profitability.
