New Melbourne event to celebrate all things JDM in a family-friendly environment
Japanese domestic market (JDM) cars and the culture that surrounds them are expected to draw in large numbers of enthusiasts and a broad audience of onlookers at a new festival in Melbourne next month.
Organised by the Melbourne JDM car club and motoring influencer Cam Male, the Melbourne JDM Festival 2022 is a new one-day event coming to Caribbean Gardens Lakeside, Scoresby, on March 19.
With more than 100 cars set to be on display as well as an on-site DJ and gourmet food trucks, the event has been designed as a family-friendly affair with the ultimate goal being to inspire fans to continue modifying their JDM vehicles or buy a JDM car and get amongst the scene.
Melbourne JDM car club co-founder Daniel Ruja said the intention was “to create a festival where car culture is celebrated and that people can feel a sense of belonging and reignite the passion we all have for our JDM cars”.
“I’ve always imagined what it would be like to have a huge festival with mind-blowing JDM cars, awesome live DJ music, good food, where everyone can come together with their friends,” he said.
Ruja said the festival, which he hopes will become an annual event, will feature cars from all corners of the JDM scene – drag, race, show, drift and stance.
The event is designed to appeal to people of all ages, with kids under 12 getting in for free.
