Jackie Chan DC Racing is coming to America to compete in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for 2023.
The team is led by Chinese-American David Cheng in partnership with international film star Jackie Chan. It plans to return to racing and compete full time in the new GTP class (most recently known as LMDh) after sitting out the past two seasons.
The team has raced prototypes in the World Endurance Championship, Asian Le Mans Series, European Le Mans and the 24 Hours of Le Mans since forming in 2015.
The team’s greatest accomplishment today may been its second overall finish in the 2017 24 Hours of Le Mans. That year, the team won the LMP2 class and its cars finished second and third overall. In 2018, Chan’s team won both the LMP2 and LMP3 titles in the Asian Le Mans Series.
The team’s first race in IMSA is expected to be the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January.
“Obviously there is a ton of excitement surrounding IMSA GTP, but if you step back and look at the robust size and deep levels of talent in this paddock through all of the classes, it is really impressive,” said Cheng. “It makes for a very attractive package, both for sponsor partners and for potential clients.

“We had to step away from the sport in 2020, but we’ve spent the time exploring opportunities to compete and I’m thrilled to be making this full time move to compete in IMSA. By establishing a new base here in North America, we can build our business and offer a tremendous experience to our customers.”
The team is expected to establish a North American race shop on the West Coast and the team is also working on an alignment/consulting deal with the Circuit of the Northwest, a motorsports facility near Seattle.
