British carmaker Ineos Automotive has finally revealed the prices and specs for the Grenadier SUV. The Ineos Grenadier SUV is considered by many as the spiritual successor to original Land Rover Defender.
Despite looking quite similar to the previous-gen Defender, the Grenadier is a brand new SUV built from the ground up to be a proper off-roader.
Now, nearly a year and a half after being first unveiled and after switching production to France, the Grenadier’s specs and prices have been revealed. The Grenadier will go on sale in United Kingdom and Europe next month.
The new Ineos Grenadier is offered with two engine options – one petrol and the other a diesel. Both the engine options on the Grenadier displace 3.0-litres and are turbocharged straight six units sourced from BMW.
The BMW B57 petrol engine of the Ineos Grenadier produces 281.6bhp at 4,750rpm and 450Nm of peak torque between 1,750 and 4,000rpm. The 0-100km/h sprint takes 8.6 seconds and the top speed is 160km/h.
The BMW B58 diesel engine, on the other hand, produces 245.4bhp from 3,250 until 4,200rpm and 550Nm of peak torque from 1,250 rpm until 3,000 rpm. The 0-100km/h sprint takes 9.9 seconds and the top speed is 160km/h.
Both the petrol and diesel engines of the Ineos Grenadier are offered with an 8-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The gearbox directs the power from the two engines to all four wheels thanks to an all-wheel drive system. The Grenadier from Ineos Automotive also gets a two-stage transfer case and a centre differential lock as standard.
The Ineos Grenadier features 5-link suspension setup with coil springs at both the front and rear ends. Both the front and rear end of the Grenadier feature solid link axles. Braking duties are handled by 316mm ventilated discs with twin piston callipers at the front and 305mm solid discs at the rear which sport single-piston callipers.
The all-new Ineos Grenadier is 4,896mm long, 2,146mm wide, and 2,036mm tall. The Ineos Grenadier’s wheelbase is 2,922mm long while the front and rear overhangs are 887 and 874mm long. The track width of the Grenadier is 1,645mm wide. The turning circle is 13.5 metres.
The Ineos Grenadier features a ground clearance of 264mm. The Grenadier’s approach angle is 35.5 degrees while the departure angle is 36.1 degrees. The ramp breakover angle is 28.2 degrees.
The Grenadier can climb up steep grades of up to 45 degrees and has a wheel travel of 585mm. The Grenadier can wade into water with depths of up to 800mm. The front axle can articulate up to 8 degrees while rear axle takes that figure up to 12 degrees.
The Ineos Grenadier is offered in two basic guises – a two-seat Utility Wagon which starts at £49,000 (Rs 47.14 lakhs) in the U.K. The Grenadier Utility Wagon (which is only for commercial use) has a load capacity of 2088 litres and a towing capacity of 3500kg. A five seat version of the Utility Wagon is also available.
The passenger version of the Grenadier, dubbed the Station Wagon starts from £52,000 (Rs 50.03 lakhs) in the U.K. and has the same towing capacity as the commercial variant. The Grenadier Station Wagon has a load capacity of 1,152 litres. Both versions of the Grenadier can winch out loads that weigh as much as 5,500 kilogrammes.

The Ineos Grenadier is what happens when a billionaire falls in love with a dying off-roading icon. The Grenadier is the spiritual successor of the Land Rover Defender and is as serious as that vehicle when it comes to off-roading. Sadly it is currently only offered in the UK and Europe which is a shame as many fans of the OG Defender in India would love to get their mitts on one.
