A new player is about to enter the local electric truck arena, this time from Foton Mobility under the moniker “iBlue”.
Ahead of its debut at the upcoming Australasian Fleet Management Association (AFMA) conference on Tuesday, a first look at the iBlue has been teased by the hydrogen bus and electric mobility company.
Pegged as a zero-emissions alternative to diesel equivalents, the 2.5 tonne truck comes in either 4.5 tonne or 6 tonne GVM format, and the smaller of the two does not need a truck licence to drive.
An 81kWh battery that can be charged in 1.5 hours and a 300kW motor power the vehicle, and an optional 100kWh battery is also on offer.

Described as a “game-changer” for the light-duty truck market by the company, the iBlue will come with a 5 year, 200,000km warranty.
