Just one engine will be done per calendar month though, and the rest of 2022 is already booked out
HSV and Walkinshaw Racing have announced new engine optimisation program for the halo HSV MY17 GEN-F3 LSA V8, allowing owners to have their supercharged 6.2-litre powerplant balanced, blueprinted, hand-assembled and dyno-tuned by the Walkinshaw Racing engine shop.
However, the catch is that only one engine will be optimised per calendar month on a first-come, first-served basis – and the remainder of this year is already spoken for.
In addition to having the funds to be able to pay for the service as well as ship your car and/or its engine to Walkinshaw headquarters in South Clayton, HSV and Walkinshaw Racing have laid out a strict eligibility criteria that the vehicles have to meet.
Firstly, the only eligible cars are the MY17 30th Anniversary Maloo R8 LSA, Clubsport R8 LSA, Clubsport Tourer R8 LSA and Senator Signature R8 LSA, as well as the flagship GTSR and GTSR Maloo.
Second, the vehicles must have less than 5000km on the odometer and be genuine examples of their nameplate.
Provided these boxes are all ticked, the program should yield more power, value and exclusivity for the optimised cars, finished examples of which will be fitted with updated ‘Walkinshaw Racing Optimised’ decals and a genuine WR numbered engine stamp.
“Each customer is also offered a personalised tour of both the Walkinshaw Group and Walkinshaw Racing premises, where they can see their own engine progressing through this process,” a Walkinshaw spokesperson said in a statement.
HSV and Walkinshaw aficionados will have realised by now the engine optimisation isn’t a new concept and was initially rolled out in 1996 for owners of the original HSV VS GTS-R.
