Citroen has revealed prices and specs for the updated C5 Aircross, which is now available to order

The recently facelifted Citroen C5 Aircross is now on sale, with prices starting from £25,515. New versions of Citroen’s family SUV include a revised, ‘mature’ design, a more premium interior and a larger 10-inch touchscreen.
When it arrives in showrooms later this year, the updated C5 Aircross will continue to feature in a competitive segment, with rivals such as the Peugeot 3008 and Kia Sportage.
2022 Citroen C5 Aircross: prices and specs
Citroen has now streamlined the C5 Aircross range into three new trim levels: Sense Plus, Shine and C-Series Edition. Kicking off the range, the entry-level Sense Plus replaces the now-discontinued Sense trim. This comes with an impressive level of standard equipment such as a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a larger 10-inch central infotainment screen, dual-zone climate control, keyless entry and start, a reversing camera and a set of new 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels.
Moving up the range, the mid-level Shine trim introduces a host of driver aids including adaptive cruise control and auto emergency braking, Citroen’s Advanced Comfort seats with Alcantara suede upholstery, and premium ‘Urban Black’ interior trim. This starts from £26,665.
Finally, the C5 Aircross C-Series Edition sits at the pinnacle of the range and has been specifically tailored for UK buyers. With prices starting from £29,105, these cars benefit from a contrasting black roof, exclusive bronze styling accents, wireless phone charging, a hands-free automatic tailgate and a panoramic sunroof.
All models are available with the same 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol and 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engines as before. Both engines produce 128bhp, with the diesel managing an improved fuel economy of up to 57.6mpg. Buyers can choose from either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic gearbox.
Also returning is the 222bhp 1.6-litre petrol plug-in hybrid model. Only available on Shine trim and above, this powertrain allows for up to 34 miles of pure-electric driving range and can recharge at a home wallbox in just two hours. Citroen says the outgoing C5 Aircross PHEV accounted for 30% of the model’s sales in Europe, so we can expect this to continue to be popular amongst buyers.
Design and interior
The facelifted C5 Aircross adopts several design changes over the previous model. At the front, Citroen’s separate light clusters have been replaced with a combined unit. There are two stacked LED daytime running lights, which link up with newly illuminated strakes on the grille. Redesigned air intakes also feature. Around the back, the tail-lights get a new design.
The 18-inch alloy wheels and the Eclipse Blue paint colour shown on this car are both new. Colour Packs are available to personalise your C5 Aircross; you can choose from black, chrome, bronze and blue, and these accents feature on the front air intakes and Citroen’s funky Airbumps. Choose the hybrid model and you’ll get stylised ‘h’ badges.
Citroen aims to make the facelifted C5 Aircross feel more premium, so the materials and technology inside have both been overhauled. A new, larger touchscreen is available on models that have sat nav fitted, and the screen now sits above a bank of air vents, rather than between them. Moving the touchscreen further up should make it easier to view and use while driving, although you’ll still need to use the screen to adjust the cabin temperature.
As before, a configurable 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is available. This is now standard across the range and can be programmed to show the sat-nav map, information on the driver assistance systems and driving information.
Citroen’s Advanced Comfort seats have also been updated, as they have been on the Citroen C4 and the Citroen C5 X (a separate model from the C5 Aircross). Extra foam has been added to the seats, and they’re designed not to sag over time.
Blue stitching now features, while the interior ‘ambiences’ have been updated with black fabric replacing grey. There are new leather options as well.
Up to 20 driver-assistance systems are available. These include semi-autonomous driving capability in the form of Highway Assist, which bundles adaptive cruise control, autonomous stop-and-go and lane-keeping assistance.
With individually sliding rear seats, the C5 Aircross is a practical SUV. Boot space is up to 720 litres with the seats fully forward; its 580 litres with the seats pushed back is still far more than you get in a Ford Kuga or Nissan Qashqai. The plug-in hybrid offers between 460 and 600 litres.
