Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK has now begun sales of the all-electric eActros. UK truck operators are being invited to place the first orders for right-hand drive versions of the battery-electric Mercedes-Benz eActros. The electric truck is now available to order as a 4×2 or 6×2 chassis, with deliveries to UK customers beginning in May.
Mercedes Benz Trucks puts the permissible gross weight with trailer of the standard eActros at 40 tonnes. The electric truck is equally suitable for night deliveries with a noise-level of only 60 dB. The manufacturer also emphasises that numerous assistance systems and technical devices in the eActros are intended to ensure a high level of safety, including features such as MirrorCam as standard equipment.
The standard eActros can be charged with up to 160 kW. The German automaker says that with the configuration with three battery packs (315 kWh), the charging process from SoC 20 to 80 per cent can be completed in just over an hour.
Mercedez-Benz has said that co-operation Partnership Agreements are set up with sales teams standing ready to provide expert advice on the eActros and channel ‘live’ leads to specialist eConsultants at Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK. The company says that their dealers are also investing significant sums in the technical training and additional equipment needed to secure ‘eTruck-ready’ status for their workshops. This already includes 17 accredited locations, with more set to follow in the coming months.
“The eActros is a new truck for a new era,” says Ross Paterson, Head of Special Trucks at Mercedes-Benz Trucks UK. “It represents an important step towards our goal of offering an entirely CO2-neutral product range by 2039, which we’ll achieve using a combination of battery-electric and hydrogen fuel cell technology.”
Paterson adds: “Our team of eConsultants can provide valuable advice and assistance on other aspects of its operation such as charging infrastructure, as well as a range of digital services to increase utilisation and optimise the total cost of ownership.”
Mercedez-Benz launched the eActros in Europe in June last year. Larger orders have already come in from Einride, DB Schenker and Dachser.
