KUANTAN: Ducati has pulled the covers off a smaller-displacing Scrambler with a 399cc L-twin motor that’s aimed at attracting beginner riders keen on associating themselves with the lifestyle presented by the Italian motorcycle maker.
Priced from RM49,999 (without GST) the 399cc bike looks practically identical to its larger
803cc Scrambler
stablemate, except it now sports a blackened exhaust silencer and loses the additional piping for the L-twin motor.
With the frame and seat in black, there are three designs available such as Atomic Tangerine, Ocean Grey and Shining Black for choice.
With use of a tubular steel Trellis frame, the 2,150mm-long Sixty2 comes weighing in at 183kg (wet – with 90% fuel) while sporting a wheelbase of 1,460mm and stands 1,165mm-tall and 860mm-wide.
Riders sit relatively upright on a 790mm-high saddle as standard (770mm and 810mm seats available as optional extras) and the front 41mm Showa fork suspension with 150mm of travel has a rake angle of 24-degrees, while total steering lock is at 35-degrees.
The rear off-centre single Kayaba shock absorber is adjustable for preload and also has 150mm of travel.
The Sixty rolls on 18-inch (front) and 17-inch (rear) light alloy 10-spoke wheels with custom-made 110/80 (front) and 160/60 (rear) Pirelli MT 60 RS tyres.
The braking system comes with a two-channel anti-lock braking system as standard for the two-piston (front) and single-piston (rear) floating callipers that bite down on the 320mm (front) and 245mm (rear) single discs.
A 14-litre steel fuel tank feeds the 399cc Sixty2’s air-cooled L-twin motor, which has a compression ratio of 10.7:1 – pushing out 41hp at 8,750rpm and 34.6Nm of torque at 8,000rpm via a six-speed manual gearbox that comes equipped with a wet multiplate clutch.
Other standard equipment includes LED front (with interchangeable surround) and rear lights, LCD instrumentation with interchangeable surround.
