KUALA LUMPUR: The much-awaited Ducati Scrambler has finally landed and it’s now available in four variants with prices starting from an introductory price of RM57,333 (including GST).
Ducati Malaysia, under the guise of Next Bike Sdn Bhd, introduced the bike in conjunction with its nationwide Scrambler Ducati tour.
The bikes are now available in all four variants with an introductory net selling price (inclusive of GST) starting with the entry-level Scrambler Icon at RM57,333, while the Urban Enduro, Full Throttle and Classic are priced at RM64,888.
The aim of the Scrambler was to revive the 250cc single-cylinder legend by bringing it to the present and that meant gifting it with a host of current technical specifications while still retaining that ode to the original.
This meant that Ducati designers incorporated a few defining characteristics into the new Scrambler that included a 13.5-litre teardrop fuel tank from the 1970s and gave it interchangeable aluminium side panels for customisability.
It also has an inscription on the filler cap that says ‘born in 1962’ as well as the distinctive round head lamp.
Fast forward to today and the new 186kg (wet) bike has a 24-degree front rake, a 1,445mm wheelbase with a 112mm rear wheel trail – while standing at 2,100 to 2,165mm-long, 845mm-wide and 1,150mm-tall.
It now features a modern fuel-injected oil and air cooled 803cc L-Twin engine complete with electronic fuel-injection and a 50mm throttle body – all derived from the Ducati 796 Monster.
The Scramabler’s exhaust system is made up of a single stainless-steel muffler, aluminium silencer cover, catalytic converter and two lambda probes.
A six-speed manual gearbox with a wet clutch manages the engine’s output of 75hp at 8,250rpm and 68Nm of torque at 5,750rpm.
As standard, the Scrambler gets fitted with LED front and rear lights, two-channel ABS braking system, an LCD instrument cluster and a USB port under the 790mm-high seat,
The Scrambler uses 18-inch (front) and 17-inch (rear) wheels with new specially-designed Pirelli MT 60 RS enduro street tyres measuring 110/80 (front) and 180/55 (rear).
Furthermore, the belt covers are finished in aluminium and it even sports a heat guard and an interchangeable LCD instrument panel surround.
While the Icon is available in two colours wither ’62 Yellow or Ducati Red, the Urban Enduro version is available in Wild Green.
It gets a brown seat with a ribbed design, fork protectors, engine sump guard, cross bar for the handbars, high plastic fibre mudguard, spoked wheels and a protective headlight grille for going off-road.
The Full Throttle version is presented in Deep Black with yellow accents and comes with a Termignoni homologated racing exhaust for road use, a racing seat design, black side panels with dedicated graphics, low-tapered handlebars and a short front mudguard.
The Classic version is in Orange Sunshine with a black frame and appeals to those who appreciate the style of the 1970s and is characterised by its aluminium front and rear mudguards, spoked wheels and brown diamond-shaped inserts for the seat.
“Designed to traverse the urban jungle with ease, this is a bike that appeals to both highly experienced riders and keen amateur riders who are looking for functional simplicity and admire vintage designs that are easily customizable,” said NAZA World Group of Companies group executive chairman & group CEO Datuk Wira SM Faisal Tan Sri SM Nasimuddin.
