It only seemed like yesterday that I was getting slightly stressed atop my high horse about a certain eBike from Triumph, but it seems the British marque isn’t the only one jumping on the electrified pushbike band wagon.
When a firm like Ducati drops a release into the inbox surrounding its new ‘eScrambler’, it’s perfectly acceptable to get excited about a potent, electrified version of its current Scrambler line-up. Neat, retro inspired street scramblers and cafe racers that are solely powered by clean, emissions-free batteries and electric motors sound good to me.
Unfortunately (depending on your standpoint), the press release is alluding to a new collaboration between the Italian marque and Thok eBikes, which has resulted in an aluminium-framed city bike that draws power from a 250-Watt Shimano Steps E7000 motor and 504 Wh battery.
In better news, it is decked out in the classic black and yellow colour way of Ducati’s now famous Scrambler Full Throttle model, while the Sram NX 11-speed gearbox and Sram 4-piston brakes ensure it stops and goes pretty well. customers can also spec a bunch of racks and luggage accessories to make commuting and travelling that bit easier.
Unfortunately, you will have to part with £3,835 for the pleasure and just like Triumph’s attempt at the eBike, there’s nothing particularly special or Ducati about this Ducati-branded machine. In fact, you are far better keeping your cash in your pocket and shopping around, as there are far sleeker eBikes available for less.
