When DS broke away from Citroen to become its own luxury brand, there were plenty of skeptics. It still has many years ahead before it is considered part of the establishment, but you have to admire the fantastical avant guard designs that help define it. A new special edition of the DS 7 Crossback cements ties with Paris’ most famed art gallery.
The DS Crossback Louvre takes the flagship SUV and adds something of a virtual art gallery to this luxury car. This collaboration has installed a 182 piece gallery of fine art on the car’s large 12-inch touchscreen display. Each artwork is accompanied by podcast commentary to allow you to appreciate the masterpieces displayed before you. Owners of the limited edition car will also get free entry to the real Louvre for a year.
The DS 7 itself is based on the top specification Ultra Prestige model, and so comes equipped with everything from plush leather heated seats to DS’s clever active scan suspension. However, the Louvre edition cars are further enhanced with pyramid shaped stainless steel air vent buttons that were modelled with 3D scans of the art gallery. You’ll also find more pyramid details on the upholstery to remind you of this luxury car’s connection to one of France’s most iconic buildings. Some unique ‘Alexandria’ 20-inch alloy wheels and gloss black trim are a staple of this model.
The DS 7 can be had as a 300bhp plug-in hybrid, but the Louvre cars come exclusively equipped with a 222bhp turbocharged petrol engine. This power unit is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Jules Tilstone, Managing Director of DS Automobiles UK commented: “The incredible opportunity to collaborate with the famous Louvre museum in Paris has resulted in the exceptional and exclusive DS 7 Crossback Louvre. DS Automobiles’ relationship with this world renowned museum stretches back more than half a decade, our shared passion for art and culture making this a strong and unique synergy.
You can expect to see DS 7 Crossback Louvre special editions hitting the road anytime now, with an associated price tag of £46,530.
