We have already reported on the madcap D8 GTO-JD70, the Dutch featherweight sports car that boasts so much power and so much grip that it is capable or rearranging internal organs with the G-forces it can pull through corners.
Well, the car has obviously caused a bit of a stir among enthusiasts, as more than half of all 70 planned JD70s have now found a prospective home, but that hasn’t stopped the Dutch firm from enticing buyers with even more .
The old adage ‘sex sells’ is fairly pertinent here, as the firm’s own Bare Naked Carbon Edition (BNCE) technology now allows for the car to be delivered in a raw, naked carbon look or with a coloured lacquer coating in either matte or polished finishes.
“The woven carbon remains the same,” Donkervoort Automobielen Managing Director Denis Donkervoort explains.
“We use specially developed inks mixed into the clear coat to create the look of the colour in the fibre. We can also match the interior coloured carbon pieces to the exterior bodywork,” he added.
Essentially, this is the same JD70 (yes, the first production car in the world to deliver 2G of cornering forces) but without its clothes. A naked JD70, if you will.
More than 95 percent of the standard JD70 bodywork is in carbon-fibre and the BNCE program, which began in 2018, allows owners to “see what they’ve paid for”, according to those close to the project.
Just as a reminder, this sort of automotive pornography doesn’t come cheap, with the D8 GTO-JD70 slated at £141,000 before taxes. There’s no current word on whether seeing it naked costs any more.
