Chery has announced that the first shipment of its Tiggo 7 Pro SUV is on the way to South Africa.
“Having now been fully tested and homologated for South Africa, we can join the global launch schedule and plan to deliver the first Tiggo 7 Pro models to customers in the next couple of weeks,” said Tony Liu, Executive Deputy General Manager of Chery South Africa.
The Tiggo 7 Pro will join the recently-released Tiggo 4 Pro and Tiggo 8 Pro – bringing the automaker’s local line-up to three SUV models.
The new Chery slots in as the mid-range option in terms of price, specification, and size – sitting at 4,500mm long, 1,824mm wide, and 1,746mm tall.
“The model has been designed to appeal to the upper-midrange SUV market, with a comprehensive range of specifications, above-average luxury, and the modern technology that Chery has become known for in South Africa,” said Liu.
What we know
Chery confirmed that the new Tiggo 7 Pro range will be powered by its in-house 1.5-litre, turbo-petrol engine putting out 108kW and 210Nm – connected to a CVT transmission with nine “in-built gear steps”.
Inside the cabin, the 7 Pro is said to provide equally as many technologies as its siblings, including a digital instrument cluster, a full-HD infotainment system, and a digital control hub for the automatic airconditioning.
Additionally, depending on the model, the Chery will offer ambient lighting, a multifunction steering wheel, leather upholstery, an electronic parking brake, fog lamps, and LED lights.
“Many of the features that our South African customers have come to love, will also be available on the Tiggo 7 Pro range,” said Liu.
This includes an omnidirectional airbag system, Chery Voice Command, and a 360-degree camera programme that allows for easy low-speed manoeuvring and parking, he said.
All the South African-specific pricing and specifications for the Chery Tiggo 7 Pro will be made available closer to its launch date, said Liu.
