Don’t be discouraged by her past but Caitlyn Jenner is no stranger to winning nor the cockpit of a race car. Hailed as ‘the world’s greatest athlete’ by Time magazine after triumph in the decathlon event at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, the 72 year old is hoping to bring her winning ways to the third season of the W Series.
Operating as a team principal for the team that bears her name, the iconic figurehead will manage the day-to-day running of the new establishment while arranging a driver line-up, car livery and more importantly, acquire sponsors that will share the mission statement of Jenner Racing.
Jenner stated: “As a believer in fair competition, a lover of motor racing, and a supporter of all women in sport from the grassroots to elite level, the W Series ticks every box for me and is a fusion of the different aspects of my career,”
Jenner first competed in motorsport in 1979 after winning a celebrity race at the Long Beach Grand Prix in California. The following year, she made her professional debut at the 24 Hours of Daytona and went on to become a Ford factory driver in the IMSA Camel GT Championship with a total of 57 starts during her tenure.
