Votes from more than 1000 men reveal which utes are hottest and why.
New research has revealed which utes Australian men find most attractive.
Asked to rate utes from several manufacturers across the globe, including Holden, Ford, Isuzu, Toyota, Mazda, LDV, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Mercedes-Benz and Volkswagen, the results from more than 1000 Australian men are in.
And, it was the popular Ford Ranger with the highest number of votes.
The 1150 respondents were shown photographs of each model and asked to choose which they thought was the best-looking ute and why.
Some of the feedback given in relation to the Ranger – which is currently the top-selling 4×4 Ute in Australia – was that it looked aggressive and because: “It looks large and imposing and it has great lines. It looks and feels like a tough vehicle” according to one bloke.
Bloke Vote, a local research company dedicated to getting the opinions of average “blue-collar” males aged 18+, said the words tough, aggressive, solid and rugged were a common theme when asked to describe the Ranger.
Finishing a very close second, was the Isuzu D-MAX.
While voters shared a similar “tough” sentiment about the D-MAX, the Japanese ute was also recognised for its “modern” and “bold” design.
Reliability was reportedly the overwhelming factor to get Australia’s favourite ute, the Toyota HiLux, over the line in third spot, with some voters putting brand value and reliability ahead of overall looks.
The Volkswagen Amarok, Mazda BT-50 and Mitsubishi Triton rounded out the top six, with Bloke Vote saying the voters weren’t particularly passionate about those outside the top three, despite many saying the Amarok would be a “more conservative and less bogan” choice if they didn’t like any of the other options.
