Czech car maker and Volkswagen Group member Skoda has unveiled a slinky new member to its ever growing lineup with the 2022 Skoda Enyaq Coupe. Obviously a coupe version of the regular Enyaq electric SUV, the Enyaq Coupe’s more aerodynamic shape actually adds to its range, with up to 545km available on some variants. Like the regular Enyaq, the coupe variant is yet to be confirmed for Australian sales.

Adding to the regular Enyaq’s stylistic attributes, the 2022 Skoda Enyaq Coupe is striking to look at with its large illuminated grille, Matrix LED headlights, full length glass roof and small horizontal taillights. Because of its slinkier styling, the coupe is actually more aerodynamic with a cd rating of just 0.234. The cabin of the Enyaq Coupe is largely identical to the regular model with a large 13-inch touchscreen sitting atop the dashboard, several recycled and eco-friendly materials and in the coupe, a tinted full-length glass panoramic roof is standard.
According to Skoda, the Enyaq Coupe’s boot measures up to 570-litres, which is only 15L less than the regular Enyaq.
Based on the same ‘MEB’ platform as other Volkswagen Group electric vehicles, such as the Volkswagen ID.3, ID.4 and Cupra Born, the Skoda Enyaq Coupe features a battery up to 77kWh in size, giving the car a range of up to 545km.
The 2022 Skoda Enyaq Coupe will be offered in four forms: 60, 80, 80x and RS – the former two are rear-wheel drive and the latter two are all-wheel drive. The 60 uses a 132kW/310Nm electric motor that draws power from a 58kWh lithium ion battery – the 80 upgrades that to a larger 77kWh battery and 150kW/310Nm, and offers the most range in the Enyaq lineup at 545km. The 80x and RS use the same 77kWh battery, but the 80x has a 195kW/425Nm motor and the RS a 220kW/460Nm motor.
The Enyaq Coupe does the 0-100km/h sprint in as little as 6.5 seconds for the RS – the 80x is 7.0 seconds, the 80 8.7 seconds and the 60 8.8 seconds – and top speed for all variants is 160km/h, with the RS hitting 180km/h.
An available 11kW wall charger charges the Enyaq in around six to eight hours, depending on the battery pack chosen, while 125kW DC charging enables a 0 to 80 per cent charge in around half an hour, according to Skoda.
Features available on the RS variant of the Enyaq include wheels up to 21-inches in size, a sportier looking bodykit, sports seats and even a newly-designed RS badge.
The 2022 Skoda Enyaq will go on sale in Europe later this year and Australian sales are yet to be confirmed. Skoda is rumoured to be trying for a 2022 Enyaq release locally and if it ever launches here, it will compete with the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, Tesla Model 3 and Polestar 2.
