It’s hard to think how much more realistic video game graphics can get with gaming engines providing the most realistic experiences there have ever been. The eight minute Gran Turismo 7 opening movie is a cinematic masterpiece that celebrates the brand’s 25th anniversary in the gaming space. A short stroll down memory lane shows how the iconic racing simulator has evolved throughout the years with Gran Turismo 7 being a truly realistic looking game.
Aficionados of the game will immediately associate some of the best opening cutscenes in ‘90s racing games with the initial feature debuting in the first 1997 franchise title and running for about three minutes.

The first portion of the video demonstrates authentic clips of the automobiles inception and how, since its advent it has been something that man has used to compete and race with. Moving closer to the future, the video shows the intricate methods of production that certain high end cars require before seamlessly merging into in-game footage compliments of a Porsche Taycan EV.
From this point on, all footage shown is that of virtual cars that can be used in-game as Polyphony Digital showcases the game’s graphics capabilities which are highly impressive and continue the cinematic theme.

While the first title had approximately 140 cars to race on 11 race tracks, Gran Turismo 7 has significantly more variety with over 400 to choose from and race on 35 different tracks. Interestingly enough, the game uses real life market related values for used car market prices which means the drift tax imposed on sideways-missiles will be a part of the game as well. Either way, it is probably considerably easier earning money to afford the wide selection of vehicles in the virtual format than at your normal 9-5 day job.
