We’re no strangers to some atrocious weather in South Africa, however we can all agree that some of the weather, that the US is subjected to, in winter particularly, is frankly ridiculous. Take a look at the video below from Today.com.

40 kilometres of Interstate 39 were closed with motorists having fallen victim to the harsh winter weather in Illinois which caused a pile-up involving over 100 vehicles. The pile-up occurred near El Paso on Thursday afternoon and resulted in the stretch between Normal and Minok being closed for 12 hours. Of course, aside from having had actual car accidents, the drivers were at risk of hypothermia in the frigid, sub-zero weather.
Those stuck in the jam or involved in accidents were taken to warming centres where they were monitored and given the necessary attention.
Fox News reported that Illinois State Police did tell drivers earlier in the day via a Twitter video to avoid using the roads unless it was an emergency due to heavy snowfall and “blizzard lie conditions” which caused poor visibility, adding to the hazardous travel conditions.
