The coronavirus pandemic has been causing no end of problems for manufacturing businesses around the world. Many have needed to shutdown production in its entirety, with the world now adapting to a new way of doing business. Brabham have defeated the odds and supplied a customer with the very first BT62 Competition.
By incorporating new hygiene and safety measures to protect its staff, and working with suppliers on continuity plans, the first Competition specification BT62 has been delivered to Horsepower Racing. The UK-based team will use the racer to complete in the Britcar Endurance Championship this year.
The BT62 is available in several variants ranging from road to race, but each comes with a naturally aspirated V8 producing up to 700bhp. It has been designed to be FIA compliant and is eligible for many racing series around the world. Brabham itself plans to enter a car into a future instalment of the Le Mans 24 Hour endurance event.
Brabham Automotive is the brainchild of racing driver and Le Mans winner David Brabham. Son of legendary racing driver and constructor Jack Brabham, David wanted to return his family to the track in a big way. The BT62 contains no half measures with the fully developed carbon racing car utilising the latest production techniques.
The business has big ambitions for the future. Dan Marks, CEO of Brabham Automotive said: “The growth of Brabham Automotive over the last couple of years is a testament to the up-front planning that we put in place operationally and the depth of infrastructure that we can call upon from the broader Fusion Capital group. This ensures that we can scale Brabham to meet demand and as future vehicle variants come on line. The Brabham Automotive team is highly skilled and has shown great resilience in what has been a trying time for everybody around the world. We are extremely proud of what has been achieved.”
Horsepower Racing drivers Paul Bailey and Ross Wylie will pilot this first BT62 Competition as soon as global scenarios allow.
