In a bizarre incident in Lucknow, a JCB picks up a hatchback from a No Parking Zone with passengers inside
Bizarre is the word here. Civic officials in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh used a JCB backhoe to lift a car from a no parking zone. But the car was not empty. Passengers were screaming from inside the car while the JCB continued to tow the hatchback.
The incident is from Hazratganj in Lucknow. The JCB that you see in the video belongs to Lucknow Municipal Corporation.
Car picked up while dropping a friend
The man in the driving seat of the Santro was identified as Raghvendra Awasthi. He told TOI that he stopped the car to drop-off his friend. He wanted to park the vehicle in the parking zone.
He claims that the backhoe was out to get him all of a sudden and before he knew it the vehicle was being towed. Awasthi says that the JCB suddenly lowered its fork-lift arms and picked up the car. The driver yelled from inside the car objecting to this.

But the JCB driver refused to listen and was on his way. Even a few pedestrians objected to the move but it was all in vain.

Authorities tell a different story
Although these images suggest that these individuals were in the car when it was picked up by the crane, officials say that these men got into the car much later
Officials of the Lucknow Municipal Corporation have denied all the claims made by the driver and have said that the car was parked right outside of a multilevel parking.
Additional Municipal Commissioner Abhay Pandey claims that the backhoe’s driver saw no one inside the vehicle when he picked it up. Apparently, the men quickly climbed inside the vehicle after the JCB started towing the vehicle. You can even see one of them climbing onboard in the video above.
But the driver claims that he hadn’t actually parked his car and was only there to drop-off his friend
The owner paid a fine of Rs 500 and released the vehicle from the authorities. LMC has now discontinued the Backhoe’s services for towing the cars until further notice. Such vehicles aren’t ideal for towing and can cause substantial damage to your car. Do you think the same?
