The affordable moped takes on the most popular commuter in a unique drag race battle
The TVS XL100 is one of the oldest moped in the country, it is still popular amongst the buyers after all these years mainly for its affordability and impressive fuel efficiency.
A moped is designed to carry the load and its riders safely from point A to Point B, but in this video, by Suraj Verma, you can watch them drag racing a TVS XL 100 moped against the tried and tested Hero Splendor commuter. It is perhaps the only video where you can watch someone drag racing a humble TVS XL 100 against a commuter. Who do you think shall win this battle?
The Contenders
The TVS XL 100 features a 99.7 cc, single-cylinder, four-stroke engine. The unit paired to an automatic gearbox produces around 4.4 PS of peak power at 6,000 rpm and 6.5 Nm of peak torque at 3500 rpm.
The Hero Splendor uses a 97.2 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that produces about 8.02 PS of peak power at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of peak torque at 6,000 rpm. The engine is paired to a four-speed gearbox.

The riders set off on the mark of three horns. Surprisingly! The TVS XL 100 takes the lead at the start of round one leaving its more powerful rival behind. The Splendor catches up soon and overtakes the moped and wins the first round.

The riders decide to swap their bikes before the second round to keep the results accurate. The Hero Splendor takes the lead at the start and retains it till the end and wins the race.
Round three
The riders set off on the mark of three horns for the last and final round. The Splendor rider gives the TVS XL 100 an edge and lets it take the lead. The Splendor catches the XL 100 mid-race and wins the third round.

This presenter conducted this entire drag race for fun. The TVS XL 100 can only reach a top speed of 70 km/h, while the Splendor can touch a top speed of 90 plus km/h. The Splendor could easily beat the TVS XL 100, but the presenter decided to make this a fun race and entertain his subscribers.
