While the RNGT Scrambler EV is not an Royal Enfield Interceptor, it sure as hell looks like one!
As likable as the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is, there’s no denying that its 648cc thumper harms the environment.
This is where the new RGNT Scrambler comes in, which looks exactly like a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 but packs an all-electric heart to keep the environment in check.
Let’s take a look.
RGNT Scrambler Electric Bike – Design & Features
As I mentioned above, the RGNT Scrambler’s design is quite reminiscent of the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, courtesy of elements like its 18/17-inch spoke wheels, gaited forks, tank shape, chrome mirrors, and single-piece seat design. In fact, even the battery casing with its engine fin-like design and the double-cradle chassis are similar to the Interceptor.
But this is where the similarities between the two end.
Where the RGNT comes into its own, though, is in terms of features, boasting a TFT instrument cluster, all-LED lights, ride modes, smartphone connectivity and USB charging
You see, even though the RGNT Scrambler looks identical to the RE, it is miles ahead in terms of features as it packs:
- A TFT instrument cluster
- Keyless ignition (new for 2022)
- Ride modes with a new-for-2022 ‘Boost’ mode (more on that later)
- All-LED lights
- Smartphone connectivity
- Combined braking system
- Charging port inside the storage compartment near the faux airbox
Oh, and in case you’re worried about not making enough noise, the Scrambler has an in-built sound-generator to help you announce your presence.
RGNT Scrambler – Battery & Motor
Coming to the heart of the matter, the Scrambler employs a 9kW motor and a 9.5kWh battery, giving it a top speed of 120kmph and a range of 150km
Next, let’s come to the heart of the matter. The 2022 RGNT Scrambler is powered by a bigger hub-mounted motor boasting 9kW of nominal power, 0.5kW more than its 2021 variant.
Even with the bigger motor, the bike still has a top speed of 120kmph, same as its 2021 iteration
Accompanying this bigger motor is an additional ride mode, dubbed ‘Boost’, which actually unlocks a massive 20kW of power, albeit only for a short duration to keep the range in check.
There are plenty of elements which suggest this, such as the fuel tank shape, gaited forks, spoke wheels, and the single-piece seat
Speaking of range, the RGNT Scrambler can eke out an average range of 150km from its 9.5kWh battery pack that takes roughly four hours to charge via the supplied charger.
All this, coupled with the bike’s fairly accessible dimensions (830mm seat height and 165kg weight), should make it quite fun and peppy, especially in the city.
RGNT Scrambler – Pricing & Availability
Sweden-based RGNT has taken the wraps off its 2022 Scrambler, which looks EXACTLY like the RE Interceptor 650’s electric twin
So can you get your hands on the RGNT Scrambler? Well, no, because the Swedish EV-maker only sells its bikes in European and American markets, without any major expansion plans as of now.
This is also a somewhat relief, considering it costs 15,495 Euros (approximately Rs 12,76,093), a little too much by Indian standards.
We’ll just stick with the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 for now. Ciao.
