The rules don’t bend for anyone, and the Kanpur Police made sure to follow through
When a popular Bollywood actor needs your motorcycle for a movie scene, there’s a solid 99.9 percent chance you’ll happily let them take it. After all, not only does your bike get popular but also because there’s probably some monetary reimbursement as well.
However, when you’re out of luck, even this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity can bite you back, as you’re about to find out.
Bike Owner Challaned After Lending Bike To Varun Dhawan
Lending your bike to a Bollywood actor might sound cool, but it can have consequences as you’re about to find out
In a funny incident, a Royal Enfield Meteor 350 owner was charged with an e-challan after lending his bike to Varun Dhawan. This happened on the sets of Varun’s upcoming movie, Bawaal, for which he needed to ride a motorcycle without a helmet in a crowded street.
During the movie shoot, the bystanders recorded the actor riding around in the said condition, immediately uploading this on social media. As expected, the video quickly went viral and even reached the Kanpur Commissionerate, who ended up issuing an e-challan of Rs 1,000 in the name of the bike owner, Pramod Kumar.
Commenting on this, Rizwaan Akhtar, the line producer of the film, said that the entire scene was shot in a controlled environment with all necessary permissions in place, yet the police has issued a challan in the name of the bike owner. Understandably, the challan amount will be borne by the producer instead of the Meteor 350 owner who had nothing to do with this infringement.
While this does seem a little unfair (especially, if all permissions were taken in advance), we believe this is a good example that the rules don’t bend for anyone, thus also promoting the use of helmets even if you’re riding around in your local gully.
Nevertheless, this incident will surely remain etched in the bike owner’s head for a long time and perhaps could possibly even end up bumping the bike’s resale value.
