However, at ₹97k converted from RMs, this could be a tough pill to swallow for a 125cc scoot
Yamaha’s Ray-ZR has established itself as a capable 125cc scooter in India, offering a good blend of modern features and a frugal engine. Where it falls a little short, though, is in terms of outright performance, which is why its sales numbers aren’t that impressive.
But did you know there’s another sporty Yamaha scooter, called the Ego Avantiz, that’s sold in Malaysia which can tackle this issue? Probably not, right? Fret not, as we’ll be telling you all about the said scooter in this story.
Yamaha Ego Avantiz 125cc Scooter – Design & Features
What if we told you there was a more powerful and sportier alternative for the Yamaha Ray-ZR? Well, there is and it’s called the Ego Avantiz
To start off, the Yamaha Ego Avantiz looks sporty from head to toe.
Upfront, the scooter boasts a Megatron-like all-LED headlight flanked by apron-mounted indicators and a slightly tall, sleek front fender. This is complemented by brawny side panels and a spacious floorboard while everything comes together by an edgy tail section.
The scooter is offered in three color options – dark green, red, and blue – all of them replete with trendy graphics on the sides.
Where the Ego Avantiz seems disappointing is in terms of features as it gets an analog instrument cluster in this modern day and age
Unlike the impressive design, the Avantiz falls a little short in terms of features. It only gets an analog instrument cluster, a front disc brake, front cubby storage, a 14-liter under-seat storage, and an LED headlight.
But what the scooter misses out on in features, it more than makes up for in the engine department, as you’re about to find out.
Yamaha Ego Avantiz 125cc Scooter – Engine & Underpinnings
But it makes up for the it in the power department. The Avantiz pumps out 9.5PS from its 125cc engine, which is 1.3PS more than the Indian RayZR
The Yamaha Ego Avantiz employs a 125cc, single-cylinder engine coupled to an automatic CVT transmission. While this may seem similar to the Indian RayZR, the Ego Avantiz pumps out 9.5PS, 1.3PS more than the RayZR.
Plus, it also weighs just 96kg (wet), 3kg less than the already featherweight RayZR.
Not only this, the Avantiz is also quite light at just 96kg (wet). Want to know how much it costs? Then simply swipe up.
As for underpinnings, the Avantiz is built around an underbone chassis sprung on telescopic forks and a monoshock, while rolling 14-inch alloy wheels.
Thanks to the 14-inch wheels, the Avantiz should offer better riding dynamics than the Ray-ZR’s 12/10-inch (F/R) combination.
What’s The Price?
Meanwhile, the sportiness is carried on towards the sides as well, thanks to the edgy side panels
Finally, let’s talk about pricing. The Yamaha Ego Avantiz retails at RM 5,536 or Rs 97,600.
Now, this doesn’t really make the Avantiz a value-for-money prospect by Indian standards, but there’s no denying that this can be a success on our shores if it gets some extra features and a slight price cut.
Untill then, if you want a powerful 125cc scooter, take a look at the TVS NTorq Race XP.
