Hoping that existing Ola S1 owners will also be as happy as Bhavish Aggarwal after receiving the update
Ola Electric took the EV space by storm last year by launching the S1 electric scooter. However, this “revolutionary” product has been in the news for all the wrong reasons recently, one of which is the unavailability of most of its features, such as cruise control and music playback.
Now, after over nine months of waiting, these features are finally coming to the consumer, as announced by Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal on Twitter.
Ola S1 Pro MoveOS 2 – Coming Soon
To announce this, Aggarwal recently posted a video of himself shaking a leg on the viral ‘Bijlee Bijlee’ song by Hardy Sandhu, playing through the Ola S1 Pro’s in-built speakers.
Additionally, he also fired in a couple of tweets showing off the turn-by-turn navigation and in-built map feature on the new OS.
And we’ll also finally get to see Ola’s much-awaited app, capable of remotely locking and unlocking the handlebar and the trunk
Not to mention, the new OS will ‘unlock’ (pun intended) the much-awaited Ola app connectivity features, such as handle lock-unlock and boot unlocking. To jog your memory, the only way for existing owners to unlock the handlebar as of now is by typing in the passcode, which isn’t very convenient, especially in instant stop-go situations.
This will be the first major update for the Ola S1 electric scooter and is expected to fix most of the bugs/performance issues consumers have been pointing out lately.
Along with the music playback feature, the MoveOS 2 will also bring with it turn-by-turn navigation via in-built maps
Besides all this, Bhavish’s latest tweet even hints at a new city riding mode for the scooter, that will limit the scooter’s top speed to 45kmph and boost the range to 170km. This seems inspired by Ather, though, who recently announced a new SmartEco mode to boost efficiency in the city.
As exciting as all this sounds, we really hope Ola takes its time to perfect the new MoveOS so that it can leave behind all of its reliability woes, thus standing tall on its ‘revolutionary’ tag.
